CONTEMPORARY HORIZONS: ANDRES MORALES (CHILE)

PANORAMA ACTUALĂ A POEZIEI CHILIENE

Nici mirarea nici flinta eternei erori
Dar frumuseţea rămâne o rană deschisă
Nici dimineaţa acestei fântâni murmurate
Nici plopul nici râpa ce am trecut-o
Zărind umbrei tale piciorul ei luminos
Dar frumuseţea rămâne o rana deschisă
Atunci m-aş întoarce să-mi pun gura pe ea
Atunci aş simţi ce fel se-nfioară durerea
Bujorii aprinşi din cană lăsând să cadă
Trupul petalelor de căldură şi teamă
În noaptea păcatului în eterna fântână
Nici amintirea nici gloria nu rămân
Buzele reci caută încă buze fierbinţi
Dar frumuseţea rămâne o rană deschisă
Un spaţiu deschis al imaginarului
Strălucirea gloria ei mirarea şi spaima
Timp fără timp ecou fără paşi paşi fără drum.

HERIDA

WOUND
Splendor is not for me nor is glory
Nor wonderment nor the ever-erring rifle
Yet beauty remains an open wound
Nor the dawn of this whispered fountain
Nor the aspen nor the chasm I have crossed
Beholding the beaming foot of your shade
Yet beauty remains an open wound
Then I would return to press my mouth against it
Then I would feel what pain’s shivers are like
In the pot radiant peonies dropping
The body of petals seized by heat seized by fear
Eternal well’s night of sin
Neither remembrance nor glory remains
Cold lips still seeking hot lips
Yet beauty remains an open wound
A space open to imagination
Splendor its glory its wonderment its terror
Timeless time paceless echo aimless steps
(Traducere de Paul Abucean)

BLESSURE

POETRY AND DRAMATIC ART: CARMEN BRAVO (SPAIN)

robando sentimientos.
Coge mis manos, así, sin miedo,
y déjame quererte un poco más.
Que la vida no es nada sin ti.
Que ya no tengo esperanza.
Que me falta el aire.
Que no siento el alma.
Coge mis manos, así, sin miedo,
y déjame quererte un poco más.
Hasta que muera la noche
y el silencio.
Hasta que la luna eterna
desaparezca,
como abrazo furtivo de un amante,
como muerte que llega.

LINIŞTE DE LUNĂ
Azi m-a durut privirea ta.

MULTICULTURAL HORIZONS: GIOVANNI PETRELLA BATISTA (VENEZUELA)

ABOUT THE ITALIAN VERISM – RUSTIC CHIVALRY

The word “verism” comes from the Latin word “veritas” (truth or true) and relies, worthily and truthfully, only upon the representing of what is real and undeniable, yet without displaying the original conventional beauty; it is the image of the daily and transcendental events in the life of man and woman, drawn in its most unembellished reality, and this concept had been enforced by a group of artists within the fields of literature, painting, music and sculpture until the end of the XVIII century, thus creating a current and, eventually, a school.
The “Verism” starts evolving in Italy in 1875, when the Realistic tendency within the Romanticism was already represented by its uttermost exponents: Alessandro Manzoni (writer), Arrigo Boito (musician) and many others, all of them prompted by the effervescent environment of the “scapigliatura milanesa” (The scatter-brained fellows of Milan), an ultimate artistic movement with a particular taste for grotesque and lugubrious and excentricity that contributed to the process of “aggiornare” (up-dating) of the Italian culture of the last decades of the XIX century and was directly related to the “positivistic” theories of the great model of the French “Naturalism”.
Movements of the “Italian Verism” came into being in each Italian region and the most important creators were: in literature, Giovanni Verga with Rustic Chivalry, Luigi Capuana, Grazia Deldda, Gabvriele Dannunzio and others and in music, of great relevance were the Great Master Pietro Mascagni, with his Rustic Chivalry, Ruggero Leoncavallo with “Pagliacci”, Giacomo Puccini with “Tosca”, “Turandot” and “Manon Lescaut” and many others, and within the French artistic movement, “Carmen” by George Bizet and “Werter” and “Manon” by Giulie Massenet were the operas closer to the Italian Verism.
The framing within the “Italian Verism”movement produced when, out of the literary work of the writer Giovanni Verga, Rustic Chivalry came into being, on a libretto by Giovanni Torgione-Tozzetti and Guido Menasci; the extraordinary music belonged to the Great Master Pietro Mascagni, who, with his ability and easiness of characterizing the heroes by only using a few bars, succeeded in moulding with force and vigour and with few resources the sounds of the Italian Verism, bringing them to their maximal expressiveness.
The opera Rustic Chivalry was inaugurated with the occasion of its participation to a musical contest, inside the Costanzi Theatre in Rome, in 1890, on May the 17th; it is without doubt that the opera that was to create the worldwide and durable fame of Pietro Mascagni, the Great Master in the Livorno town in the North of Italy came into being with the scope of this contest (...)

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY: MARINA CENTENO (MEXICO)

ESPACIOS ESTRECHOS

Atunci
ajung să urăsc povara lumii
şi florile care se agită
în golurile rutinei.

SPANISH HORIZONS: VICTOR MORATA CORTADO

MI PROFESION LITERARIA
MY LITERARY CAREER
*
Many of those reading these lines have never heard of me which is understandable. Just like many other domains, literature is going through some rough times in Spain, in Europe and elsewhere in the world; a time when the small boat of a new writer can’t do much against submerging into the icy stream running through. But let’s not overdramatize because I want to talk about my experience as an author over the past few years.
I began tapping into the domain of literature at a very early age; at twelve, I wrote my first short story, inspired by the writings of Steven King. Since then, I have occasionally written songs, to give vent to my inspiration, or short stories, which have taken me towards the path I am following today. However, it was only 7-8 years later that I was certain that this was my career and, much to my disappointment, I discovered that I had much work to do in order to achieve something. And still have.
*
